** I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
I wondered if I would like this book. Historical fiction can be a bit tedious and full of “info dumps”. This book was nothing like that. The characters were well defined and the author did a good job creating a historic picture without boring the reader.
Clementine meets the love of her life at the most inopportune time. The crisis of WWI certainly doesn’t help and only adds to the desperation of her situation. Her sister, who is the exact opposite, is smack dab in the middle of Clementines’ messy life and she certainly doesn’t help matters.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was one of those books where I wanted everyone to leave me alone so I could finish it. It was well written and developed. The only issue I have with it is the use of an epilogue. I would have enjoyed an “ending”. That didn’t change how I felt overall about the book, though.
