This book came to me at the perfect time. I’ve gotten wrapped up in a big bundle of love stories between plain ordinary humans and I desperately needed some supernatural beings. I started reading this book in the afternoon and had it finished before lunch the next day. The writing style of this author is a little different than what most readers will be used to. She writes in present tense. For example, “Sera finds herself-” as opposed to “Sera found herself-.” For some that will make it jarring to read. However, I liked it and I felt the author did a bang-up job making it work. The story developed slowly, but for me, it was a nice change from stories that spill the beans in the first half of the book and should just end there. There is a lot of suspense in this as I thought I knew what was happening but there was a little doubt. Probably the best thing I liked about this book is the main character. She challenged and doubted her transformation every step of the way. She didn’t just blindly accept her fate. That happens WAY TOO MUCH in these types of books. Without giving away any spoilers, there was one part of the epilog that confused me, but I think I may get my answer in the next book. Which brings me to another point, the author created an ending that made me want to get the next book as soon as possible.
